Immersed in the worlds of art and cinema from his childhood, Nikolas (b. 1961, Athens, GR) has a passion for sculpture. The challenges that are constantly present when trying to harness hard materials is what triggers his fascination with the sculpting process. That is why he is constantly exploring new methods and techniques, in his effort to realize his concepts in small, medium and large scale.
His sculptures incorporate various elements from the many countries in the four continents that he has lived in throughout his life, as well as from indigenous peoples. Wherever he travels, he always absorbs and processes how people interact with their world, especially in places outside the Western canon of living and thinking. His work is, therefore, an expression of his ideas and feelings about the future of humanity in an age of rapid technological developments, such as machine learning and cyborgs.
“Even more than technology, art sparks the imagination and makes you think outside the box.” – Nikolas
